Mullo Tursunjon Madrasah in Bukhara
The Mullo Tursunjon madrasah is situated in Bukhara city of Uzbekistan. The location of the madrasah is the city center, the end of the Mehtar Ambar street.
The Mullo Tursunjon madrasah was built, like most historical buildings of Bukhara in 1796 – 1797. Originally it was used for its intended purpose as a school, but at the moment it is an architectural structure belonging to UNESCO World Heritage.
The Mullo Tursunjon madrasah is a two-storied construction in the ancient style of Bukhara architecture. The building is symmetrical, in its center there is a large arch. The plafond of the arch creates a shelter, and it forms a central court in front of the building. The arch along the edges is adorned with ornaments, which are well preserved. There are two turrets on the front side of the Mullo Tursunjon madrasah. They smooth out the rectangular outline of the building.
The walls of the Bukhara Mullo Tursunjon madrasah are made of bricks and are plastered. The facade of the building is excellent, but behind the walls are bared and in some places they are partially collapsed. There are rooms inside the madrasah; most of the rooms have windows. The rooms on the first floor have individual exits, closed with double-leaf wooden doors; and on the second floor there are exits to the balconies. The balconies and exitways are implemented in the form of arches. The bypass rooms have the windows only on the second floor. The same windows are covered with bars.
