Jeep tour to the Ustyurt Plateau and the Aral Sea

The proposed three-day tour to the Aral Sea in Uzbekistan will offer you a unique opportunity to get to know the Aral Sea region. During the trip you will visit the town of Muynak, which used to be the port of the Aral Sea, and see its current shore left after the water receded. Besides, your route will pass through ancient Khorezm burial grounds on the Ustyurt plateau with its chinks, then you will visit the boundless salt marsh Barsakelmes, which leaves no one indifferent, visit Sudochiy lake, and if you are lucky, you will be able to see the migration of pink flamingos and look into the abandoned fishing village Urga. On the way to Nukus visit the ancient archaeological complex Mizdakhan, which is a unique place that amazes with its grandeur and richness of history. The complex includes the fortress "Gyaur-kala", necropolis and several mausoleums.

Detailed Route

We start our journey to the Aral Sea by 4x4 vehicles from your hotel in Nukus or Airport.
Transfer to Barsakelmes salt marsh, it is a giant depression (35-50 km) at the beginning of Ustyurt plateau, filled with a huge mass of salt, formed several million years ago, when there was an ancient ocean Tethys, walk along the salt marsh. 
Transfer to Sudochye Lake, visit the ruins of an ancient Lighthouse and an abandoned fishing village Urga. In spring and fall you can witness the migration of pink flamingos and other birds on the lake.
Lunch
We continue driving along the Ustyurt plateau with a visit to Kubla-Ustyurt - a small village built in Soviet times in the middle of the plateau, where we can taste fresh camel milk.
Arrival to the Aral Sea coast, accommodation in yurt camp. Free time, acquaintance with the surroundings, swimming in the sea.

Early rise to enjoy the magnificent sunrise over the sea. 

Breakfast.

Our excursion will start with a visit to the fortress Kurgancha kala XIV century, then we will drive to Cape Aktumsyk, where we will take a walk through the picturesque places of Ustyurt, walk among the huge slabs and look into the cave. We will also visit the ancient cemetery of nomads from the times of the Great Silk Road. Walking around we will admire Martian landscapes of the local canyon.
Lunch. 

After lunch we will go for a walk along the seashore, where you can swim and try to find teeth of Megalodon shark. Then we will return to the yurt camp

Dinner.

Breakfast.

Transfer to Nukus along the bottom of the dried up sea. On the way stop in Muynak - a former port city, which is reminded by the "graveyard of ships". Visit to the Aral Museum, where you will watch a movie about the history of the sea.
Lunch at the guesthouse.

On the to Nukus we will visit the necropolis of Mizdakhan, located near the remains of the fortress of Gyaur-kala. The whole complex of monuments is located on three hills. You'll be impressed by the ten-meters walls of the fortress, the remains of which continue to protect the ruins of two citadels of the city, one of them, according to archaeologists, was a palace building, and the other - a temple of fire.

Arrival in Nukus to hotel or airport.
